Description
Wood's metal is a metal alloy that is used for soldering and making custom metal parts. It is also known by the commercial names Cerrobend, Bendalloy, Pewtalloy, and MCP 158. Wood's metal is a mixture of 50% bismuth, 25% lead, 12.5% tin, and 12.5% cadmium. It melts at a temperature of 158° Fahrenheit (70° Celcius). Wood's metal is highly toxic. Acute effects include: Stomach pains, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Lung irritation, Chest pain, Edema, which may be fatal. Chronic effects include: Anemia, Reproductive hazard, Known carcinogen. Wood's metal was invented and patented by Barnabas Wood in 1860
