ASARCOLOW 117 is a low melting point alloy. It is also known as Cerrolow 117. ASARCOLOW 117 is a bismuth-based eutectic alloy that melts at 117 °F (47 °C). It contains the following metals: Bismuth, Lead, Tin, Cadmium, Indium. ASARCOLOW 117 has the following characteristics: *Accurate melting point *Narrow melting range *Sensitive reaction *Good liquidity *Excellent spread performance *Can withstand a certain amount of atmospheric stamping, no deformation, no leakage *Good compatibility *Separate welding and temperature control *Fast melting time between 60 seconds and 120 seconds *Density .32 lbs./In 3 *8.9 g/cc ASARCOLOW 117 has the following applications: *Investment casting *Proof casting *Sealing or soldering in low-temperature applications Alloys have low melting points because they contain a nonmetal, which acts as an impurity and prevents the alloy from reaching a high melting point.
