Description
BELMONT ALLOY 2481 is a bismuth-base, non-eutectic alloy that melts through the temperature range 218-440 F. It was developed and used originally for making punch dies to produce transformer laminations from silicon steel sheet. It is now also used to make a wide variety of punch dies and plates, chuck jaws and other holding devices for machine shops and manufacturing operations. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on casting, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: Bi-14 The alloy has a melting point of 218°F (103°C). It's used in the production of tiny circuit boards. Bismuth alloys can be used in the production of: *Fusible alloys: Low melting point alloys *Bismuth based low temperature solders: Bismuth and many of its alloys expand slightly when they solidify *Fire detection and suppression system safety devices: Many bismuth alloys have low melting points
