Belmont product code 2562 is a low melting point, 55.5% bismuth base metal alloy. It has a melting point of 255°F (124°C). It comes in 10-20 mesh, 1-1/2 lb regular bars, and 40 lb pigs. Low melting point alloys are also known as fusible alloys. They are alloys that melt below 450°F (233°C). Eutectic alloys are usually made up of bismuth, lead, tin, cadmium, indium, and other metals. These components produce an alloy that melts at low temperatures and has unique growth and shrinkage properties. Bismuth can be used as an alloying element in the production of low melting point alloys and bismuth based low temperature solders. Standard and special compositions are bismuth alloyed with either antimony, cadmium, copper, indium, lead, or tin.
