Lens Alloy 136 is a fusible alloy used for mounting lenses and other optical components for grinding. It can also be used for: *Holding glass lenses during grinding operations *Proof casting where low temperatures are necessary *Fusible mandrels *Fuses for safety devices *Higher-temperature blocking of plastic lenses *Lens blocking for buffing and grinding optical lenses and components Lens Alloy 136 is a bismuth-base eutectic alloy that melts at 136°F (57.8°C). Fusible alloys are typically based on some of the post-transition metals or elements such as gallium (Ga), indium (In), tin (Sn), and bismuth (Bi). Other alloys that can be used for glass lenses include: *Indalloy®19, which has a melting point of 140°F (60°C) *Indalloy®136
