Titanium UNS R56200 spherical powder is a titanium alloy that is known as Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V alloy. It is a medium to high strength general-purpose alloy that is widely used. It is also referred to as an alpha-beta alloy. UNS R56200 is a powder particle size distribution for Ti-6Al-4V. Ti-6Al-4V is a titanium alloy that is also known as Grade 5, Ti6Al4V, Ti-6Al-4V, or Ti 6-4. It is made up of 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium. It also contains 0.25% (max) iron and 0.2% (max) oxygen. Ti-6Al-4V has several properties, including: *Strength: Excellent strength *Elasticity: Low modulus of elasticity *Corrosion resistance: High corrosion resistance *Weldability: Good weldability *Heat treatable: Heat treatable *Corrosion resistance: Forms a stable, continuous, tightly adherent oxide film upon exposure to oxygen in air or water Ti-6Al-4V is the most commonly used alloy. It is significantly stronger than commercially pure titanium. Titanium alloys are known to be light weight alloys with excellent corrosion resistance, very high tensile strength and toughness. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V alloy is used in medical device manufacturing, and orthopedic implants. Titanium powder is a flammable solid and should be handled with caution. Mixing, blending, milling, and grinding of dry Ti powder should be done only under argon or helium. In case of fire, cover with dry sand or dry chemical/dolomite (powdered limestone).
