Description
Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloy UNS C17540 bar is a nonferrous metal that has the following properties: *Electrical conductivity: 45–60% of regular copper *Tensile strength: 140 ksi *Rockwell hardness: B100 *Corrosion resistance: Good to excellent *Cold workability: Excellent *Hot formability: Good *Temper: Solution heat treated *Fabrication properties: Excellent for cold working, good for soldering, brazing, spot welding, and seam welding *Physical properties: Melting point, liquidus°F *Rod and bar: Available in straight lengths Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloys have moderate strength, about 50% IACS conductivity, and are available in mill hardened tempers and heat treatable and ductile tempers. They also have good resistance to softening at elevated temperatures. Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloys are used in applications such as: Fuse clips, Fasteners, Springs, Switches, Casting and molding tools. UNS C17540 is often used as a substitute in marine applications. It has similar mechanical and electrical properties to UNS C68700, a copper-nickel alloy that is often used in heat exchanger applications Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloys can cause beryllium sensitization if included in the skin. If skin reactions occur, consult a doctor. Particles from hand contact should not get into the eyes, as this may cause injury to the eyes or tissue.
