Description
Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloy UNS C17540 is a rod that has the following properties: *Electrical conductivity: High electrical conductivity *Hardness: High hardness *Ductility: High ductility *Strength: Moderate strength *Resistance to softening: Excellent resistance to softening at elevated temperatures *IACS conductivity: About 50% IACS conductivity *Tempers: Available in mill hardened tempers and heat treatable and ductile tempers *Copper content: 45-60 per cent of copper Copper-cobalt-beryllium alloy UNS C17540 is suitable for the following applications: *Spot, seam, butt, and projection welding in stainless steel and high-temperature heat resisting alloys for high weld force *Butt welding dies, bar, EDM electrodes, and plastic molds *Springs, spring wire, load cells, and other parts that must retain their shape under repeated stress and strain *Low-current contacts for batteries and electrical connectors UNS C17540 is a copper alloy that can be found in the form of rods, bars, and shapes. The ASTM B0441-22 specification establishes the requirements for copper alloy UNS Nos. C17500, C17510, C17540, and C17465 rod and bar in straight lengths. Beryllium copper is a copper-based alloy that has the greatest strength of any copper-based alloy. It has a solid melting point of 1590 °F (866 °C) and a liquid melting point of 1800 °F (982 °C). Beryllium copper has a thermal conductivity of 62 Btu/h-ft-°F (107 W/m-K), which is 3–5 times higher than tool steel. The use of copper beryllium and beryllium-containing materials is not banned, restricted, or otherwise limited by any country worldwide. However, inclusions of copper-beryllium in the skin can cause beryllium sensitization. If skin reactions should occur, consult a doctor. Do not allow particles from hand contact to get into the eyes since this may cause injury to the eyes or tissue.
